Default Excel Tables in Word, format issues

Hi all,

I seem to be having problems with an excel table in word.
In my file, I have a Excel table inserted and when I input any data into it it looses its format and enlarges going off the page.

I deleted the table and created a new table, thinking there might an issue with the table form excel, but no joy. The intial file was a .doc file and thought there might be issues with the type of file, so created a completley new one .docx. Same issue occured. I then had a look at all the options, but couldnt seem to locate anything.

I finally reinstalled word and still no change.

I using office 2010 on XP operating system.

I would appreciatte any help, hopefully its a straight foward fix.

Many Thanks,

Kam
