(Gee I thought I had posted this yesterday, but don't see it.)
I'm baffled and intrigued by an occasional phenomenon that cropped up again yesterday, this time in a colleague's document. The bottom row of a table she had either copied or created and applied our custom table style to, showed the bottom row text as bolder than the rest. I've had this happen before, out of the blue, and have no idea what causes it. Clearing the paragraph and text styles, including with the "Clear all" in the styles pane, does not solve the problem, even when applied to the whole table; when it is reformatted, the bold is there. It's not actually full bold and tends to diminish as the screen view is enlarged, but it does show in print. Again, our table style is fine; this happens only every once in a while and appears to me to be something inherited from a table copied from some other document. But, the plot thickens! Here's the kicker: While I was working with my colleague remotely yesterday, she tried something I wouldn't have even considered: she changed the text wrapping to Around. The bold disappeared, and maintained the correct appearance when she reset the wrapping to None. Any idea as to what could be causing this fascinating little gem? |

I'd suspect some form of table corruption that was cleared by changing the wrapping. FWIW, corrupt tables can often be 'repaired' by converting the tables to text and back again or by saving the document in RTF format, closing the document then re-opening it and re-saving in the doc(x) format

I'll be glad if it always solves the problem. As I said, it's a solution I surely would never have guessed. Whenever it comes up again, I'll try to remember to let you know.
