I have flagged certain tasks as 'communications' throughout my plan, and created a report filtered by this flag.
When i sort by date however MS projects tries to keep the outlining structure as well as sort by date. In MSP 2010, there was an option to turn this off so it sorted purely on date. However in the version of MSP 2013 i am working on, this isnt the case and the report is useless without any kind of sorting. Does any one know how to take out the option to sort by the outline structure in MSP 13? |

On the view tab, click the Sort drop down and select Sort By
Uncheck Keep outline structure. |

In the filter definition are you showing related summary tasks? If I apply a filter in a table in a report (which is what I'm guessing you mean by report), the summary level tasks do not appear if they are not included in the filter. Only if I check off "Show Hierarchy" in the field list settings, do I see the summary tasks.
How many levels of outline do you have marked as "communication" tasks? |
