Correction to problem
Having experimented more .. I see that it is NOT Windows 7 which is at fault .. it is Internet Explorer 9 which changes the pps files to ppt.
If I use Firefox, Opera or Chrome .. all display a downloaded slideshow in .pps format correctly as normal. Has anyone any comments please ?
