Default Timing with Custom Animation

Hiya. For my A Level project I'm having to create a karaoke product using PowerPoint. The idea is to have three songs and then the user can select which part of the song to choose from (chorus, verse 1 etc). However, I'm having problems with timing the full song.

The first verse is simple enough, because I can just copy and paste the text and the animation will remain intact. Each piece of text has an ascend animation on it so that when I layer new text underneath it will be seen (because the previous text is now above, but layered underneath another shape so it is not on top). I was wondering whether there is any way to copy and paste text and group the animations so that if I move the top animation, all other animations highlighted below it will also move, keeping intact the delkays and gaps between it. Currently if I copy and paste the text I can only move one piece at a time, and then this results in the timings with the music being inaccurate.

I have tried placing each section of music (chorus etc) on their own individual slide and set the music to play over say 7 slides. However, when I try and time the slide to automatically advance, either manually or by rehearsing, it still won't advance correctly. However, I tried to rehearse the show and it was all timed correctly, but this is not the case when I view the show normally.

I've looked on the internet to see if there's any way to reset the timings for the slide to advance, but it seems that there's only information to remove the timings, and when I do that and try to enter in a new value for it, it keeps the times from before.

I'm running PowerPoint 2003 on Windows Vista (home) and XP (school).
I hope this information helps and I hope that you can be of some assistance.
Many thanks, and I can post additional information if it will help.

Hannah
