![]() We have an animated gif that was built in Photoshop and then inserted into Powerpoint. When attempting to run this presentation in Powerpoint 2013 on a Win 8.1 machine, the image will not run. It is just a static image. I've racked my brain on what might cause this. On the other setups where we've tested it, it runs fine. Any ideas? |

HOW did you insert the GIF? (There is more than one way in 2010 / 2013 with different results)
Could the GIF be very large. If inserted as an image and it's large PPT may try to compress it and kill the animation. If you can post the GIF somewhere that will help. |

I inserted the GIF through the menu commands. The GIF is 1.2mb in size. I hadn't considered that being a possible issue.
I'm going to try turning off the auto-compression to see if thats the culprit as well. Any other ideas are appreciated. |

"I inserted the GIF through the menu commands."
That's not really very useful! You can use Insert > Picture OR Insert > Video (All files) Try turning off auto compression BEFORE inserting the gif and see if that helps also make sure the gif is NOT inserted into a placeholder. I would turn it off permanently personally which needs a registry tweak HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\P owerPoint\Options and create a DWord AutomaticPictureCompressionDefault set to zero (OFF) |
