Powerpoint 2010 and a Remote

Frustrated is not the word but close enough. Powerpoint 2010.... when I run it in "normal" mode the hyperlinks do not work - the solution run it in its own window. Now the remote does not advance slides.... does anyone know how to fix this simply and easily?
