Can't arrange SmartArt graphics

I made a SmartArt chart, like an org chart, but some of the connection lines overlap some boxes, while others go behind the boxes. I want ALL the lines to go behind the boxes, but can't get it to work.

I've tried selecting a box and going to the Arrange menu, but all the "move to front/back" choices are grayed out.

Any ideas?

BTW, my user info is wrong... I"ll change it in a minute, but for this post: I'm on Mac OS and using PowerPoint 2011.
