Like the title says, Outlook for my gmail account works on the desktop but not my wireless laptop. With all of the same settings, I can receive emails on the laptop, but the test settings gives the error message to "please verify e-mail address fields".
I have tried deleting the account and re-setting everything. Has not worked. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Regards, |

According to this website:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/...84efb890&hl=en Here is the fix for this issue: Click on "More Settings" for the E-mail Account. For "Outgoing Server", CheckMark on "My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". Then select "use same settings as my incoming mail server". |

Are you using your laptop on different networks as you travel or work?
I am finding it necessary to change my settings for outgoing mail--particularly for what kind of password authorization is required--depending on where I am using the laptop. Hope this gets you thinking along some helpful lines. |

How is the laptop connected to the internet?
Is is the same internet provider as the desktop? It sounds like the internet connection for your latop is blocking your smtp port 25. In which case, I would switch to port 587. |

pepelepiuex,
The desktop is connected directly to the rounter via ethernet cable, while the lap top is a wireless connection. While at my home office, they are both the same provider. When I travel, obviously, it is a different provider. The email address error occurs when using port 465 When using ports 25 & 587, the error message is "Find outgoing mail server (SMTP)> Unable to connect to outgoing mail server (SMTP)." |

So it appears you are using a secure port 465 for smtp. I am assuming that your desktop also uses port 465.
Then continue to use port 465 for the laptop; I would double check your username/password for accurracy again in your smtp settings for your laptop. Also check if there is any firewall client software on the laptop that could be blocking your port 465. |
