When I changed my password for email Outlook (Office 2010) would not accept the new password. My ISP Help Desk tried to solve the issue, but we could not get it to work. They had me delete the account and re-add it...still no luck. In fact I cannot finish the addition of the account. It sends the test message, but does not log into the incoming mail server, and then won't Finish. The ISP Help Desk said the problem was likely with the Outlook application, and I needed to solve with Microsoft. I was skeptical of that at first, but I can access my email account through my web browser and my smartphone. So I supect they may be right. Should I now remove Outlook and reinstall it?
I have had two separate email accounts set up...my university email account and my personal account with my ISP. How do I uninstall Outlook without losing the emails currently in my Inbox? Can I uninstall just Outlook or will I need to uninstall/reinstall all of MS Office. Also, when I set-up the two accounts after the reinstall, how do I insure that emails to both accounts come to the same Inbox in Personal Folders? Any help greatly appreciated. Paul |

If you are able to access your email through your web browser and on your phone, then it is a setting within Outlook.
Are you sure the incoming mail server is correct? Is this a pop account? IMAP? Exchange? Make sure the port setting is correct also. Incoming pop server should be 110 if it is a pop 3 account. I don't think uninstalling Outlook is necessary. It's most likely just a setting issue. |

Thanks. Tried all that with my ISP Help Desk. I called them back for more assistance and they tried to access my account from their software (browser and Outlook) and encountered the same issue. Now they are not so convinced that it is a problem within my Outlook software. They have generated a trouble ticket and I am awaiting a response. I'll post the resolution...when there is one. Thanks again.

If your account is setup as a IMAP account, it could be that that there too many IMAP sessions stuck on the mail server. They may just need to clear those IMAP sessions.
