Hi!

I'm an old mainframe dinosaur working in county government.

Our core judicial system is currently on the mainframe (soon to be changing but that's another thread). Currently, a clerk enters hearings in outlook calendar to schedule them and send attorneys notices, then she has to go and reenter them into the mainframe system because that is where the judicial application is.

I have been asked to find a way to set it up so that she only has to enter all information in outlook and then we export that info and upload it to the mainframe. This would take her from entering duplicate information on 3 screens down to one entry on one screen.

I need someone who can talk me through, in layman's terms, how to go about doing this. I found forms and started setting up a form we would like her to use to enter the information, but now I need the hard part - how to get the information she enters into a form out of outlook and into a file I can work with.

babysteps please - I've never done anything besides send an email or set up a meeting in outlook. Oh, and now that the judge has decided to do this he wants it done YESTERDAY if you know what I mean - I need the RDD in front of him by Friday.

Greatful for any and all help. Kindness and patience appreciated, and glad to meet you!

Maven

Maven,

Outlook will only export calender information to a .CSV or .PST format.

What formats does your mainframe system Support? this information is crucial to determine if Outlook will be able to handle this task.

best Regards,

Hi Spidertech!

Thanks for responding. Friday it was decided to no longer continue with the project since they could not get the entire courts system onboard at this time and it must be an all or nothing project.

We would probably have exported to CVS, managed the data in excel then uploaded to the mainframe from there.

But, I guess I no longer have to worry about it now.

Have a great day!
