With Outlook 2007 when you save an email to your hard drive using "save as", the file type defaults to "Text Only" or "HTML". Is there a way to set the default file type to "Outlook Message Format" (.msg) This format saves the files attached and is able to be forwarded.

After researching your request against outlook 2007 and 2010. Both have the save as function and do not default to HTML or Plain Text only. In fact both default to Outlook message format (Unicode).
Please describe the steps you are taking to perform a save as. |

I am in the Outlook Inbox screen and going to file on the toolbar. Scroll down to save as. The save screen pops up and in the file type bar it defaults to HTML.
It does the same (HTML) if the email is opened and I hit the "save as" Icon in the Quick Access Toolbar. The fact that yours defaults to unicode is a positive sign that it can be changed. I have a laptop at the office that defaults to a "word doc." if a file attachment is within the email. |
