I have received a login outlook email account (https://outlook.hs20.net/owa/) so can login via the web and prefer to access my emails via IMAP on my laptop using Outlook 2016. To setup up I selected add account, [entered email address], and let me set up my account manually and selected IMAP.
The settings I have used are:
Incoming = IMAP
IMAP server name imap-mail.outlook.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP encryption method TLS and entered SSL/TLS
Outgoing = smtp


SMTP server name smtp-mail.outlook.com
SMTP port 587
SMTP encryption method STARTTLS

I get the message that the account cannot be setup but no information as to why. Please advise.

I have the same issue. Did you find a solution? My issues (according to a wireshark capture) shows OUTLOOK is not sending the email address in the SMTP conversation.

THoughts?

Sorry I cannot find any notes as to how I resolved it and no longer use this version of Outlook. Good luck.
