I've love Office especially Outlook but the day before yesterday, Outlook quit working, in other words it's not receiving email. I called my ISP thinking there was a problem on their side cause Outlook has always worked, never a problem. Found out that they were having a slight lag on their end, even so, I should still should be receiving email. The person I was talking to took over my desktop and looked at Outlook settings and the like and could not figure out why Outlook wasn't working. I decided to uninstall office completely, to include deleting folders and anything else associated with Office including registry settings. I did a restart and re installed Office and tried it again and again it wouldn't work. I decided to try something and installed Mozilla Thunderbird just to see if it might be on the ISP's end and it's not. Thunderbird downloaded my email with no problem. That means there is a problem with Outlook and I have no idea what that could be. So here I am, asking the brains out there what could possibly be the problem. All the other Office apps work except Outlook.

If TB works, why not keep it?

I don't see the post I made here this morning so I'll do it again. I like using Outlook, I haven't used anything else cept maybe my google account but that's for other stuff not the important stuff I want on my computer. Something rather strange as well. I had totally forgotten I had Outlook on my laptop, I don't use it there so needless to say I have no shortcut on my desktop for it. Anyway I started using it and was getting email. That tells me that something is wrong on my primary computer. I checked the ports and the ports on the laptop were different than my desktop as well as the type of encryption my isp uses. I changed all to what my laptop had and it worked but I still can't receive.
I'm running the same Version and build on both desktop and laptop, Ver 1607. OS Build 14993.447. I'm running the same version of office on both computers.I just don't get it |
