Last month my Dell desktop quit. It had Windows 7 and Office 2010. It had two hard drives, one for my OS and programs and one for my personal files. I was able to find another desktop that was missing the hard drive. I took my personal files drive from the old computer and put it in the replacement computer. I put in my Windows 7 disk, successfully installed Windows 7.
Then I installed Office 2010. When I activated Outlook 2010 it recognized my email accounts with Cox but my address book and saved emails were gone. I learned about .pst and .ost files and were able to retrieve them from the other hard drive, copy them into the replacement computer and import them into Outlook 2010 so I had my saved emails and address book back. If you haven't fallen asleep by now, I'll come to the problems: 1 - In the Navigation pane I see my first account (with inbox, sent, trash, junk, etc), then my second account (with inbox, sent, trash, junk, etc). The third idem is Outlook Data File (with inbox, drafts, sent, deleted, junk, and several folders that I had created for different people). Now, the thing is, everything in the Outlook Data File was in my first account on the old computer and is now separate from the first account. 2 - When I open email, it defaults to the Outlook Data File list and my saved emails from before the old computer quit. I have to click on the first account, which I use all the time, to get to use it. 3 - When I get unwanted email in the first or second account and I send it to junk and select block sender, it doesn't take because I keep getting mail from the sender that has supposedly been blocked. How do I get my Outlook 2010 back to normal? |
