I'm running Outlook 2013 and have a problem. I've recently added a 2nd account to Outlook (both my main account and the new account are IMAP).
If I open the 2nd account and click on the inbox, it receives email as expected. However, that's the only time it receives email; when my main account is selected, the 2nd account never receives email. This is a problem because I do almost all of my work in my main account, but I do need to know when emails arrive in my 2nd account and rarely think to click on its inbox. Can you suggest a solution? Thanks! |

Check the Send/Receive frequency settings.
Go to the Send/Receive tab, click Send/Receive Groups drop down menu, the click Define Send/Receive Group. Select the All Accounts group, unless you have setup a new group for your accounts, make the the option for Schedule an automatic send/receive every field is checked and adjust the time period if it's quite long. I usually set it for about 5 minutes. Click Close and see if this fixes the problem. Let me know if this option was already enabled and what the setting was. |

Thanks for your help.
I'd already done as you suggested - my settings are exactly as you describe. I've got another issue, and I wonder if the two are somehow related. In my main account, email isn't received unless I've selected the InBox (I've got dozens of folders and use rules to sort my incoming mail). If I'm reading mail in any of the other folders, I have to click on my InBox to receive more, at which time lots of mail is often received. Any ideas? |
