Sorry to be long winded here but I really don't know what else to try and hope there is an angel out there who can help... PLEASE and thank you
I moved from a computer with XPP 32bit to a new computer with Win 7 64bit. I installed Office 2007 with Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Mgr, activated it and then used MS Easy Transfer to move all data across, as I have done on several occasions without a hitch. I am not on an Exchange server When I first opened Outlook it looked for and could not establish a connection to the contact manager database and asked me if I wanted to change the connection. When I tried, it would show me a list of computers to search (the only one there was this computer) but nothing could be found. Everything transferred over just fine. Email Accounts, Mail and Contacts however, when I click on the Address Book icon at the top of Outlook (to the left of Search Address Books) there are no address books to be found. When I click on the Contact icon (bottom left) under the mail folders tree, I see all of my contacts and groups. When I open the Address Book window and try to add an entry I get the message that "a new entry cannot be added. You must have a PAB to create an entry. Add a PAB to your profile using Account settings command on the tools menu" When I open Account settings and try to add an PAB I get the message "This account or directory type exists and cannot be specified twice." I have uninstalled Office completely using Windows add remove and reinstalled it. I also renamed the Outlook folder in User > App Data > MS > Outlook to Outlook OLD. When I opened Outlook, it was looking for my PST file and couldn't find it and I got the exact same results including looking for the connection to the contact manager database. I uninstalled it with Revo and removed all traces but the same thing happened when I reinstalled. I then uninstalled it again and installed Office 2007 Ultimate (a different license) and it no longer looks for the database connection but the address book problem remains. I have searched and tried several fixes but nothing has worked. The only thing I can think of is that I did not uninstall the two entries for MS SQL Server (2005 and 2008) but I don't want to to so for fear of messing something else up. Again... PLEASE and thank you |
