Desktop Alerts?

Thanks again. I haven`t attempted to configure it for just contacts and i don`t know about the default. Anyway i`ve reached the "desktop alert settings" page ImageShack - Image Hosting :: alerts.jpg now what do i do with that?

Does that control the sound too?
