Default New email notification sound program events

I`m using Microsoft Office 2007. The program events sound works on email from my own contacts but not on all other incoming emails. I`ve tried everything in Control Panel/sounds, and rules and alerts in Outlook but to no avail. Is this just Outlook 2007 or should i do something else?

Lightbulb Alerts

terrace,

When you go to rules and alerts > and click on Manage Alerts tab a message pops up saying that you must use a Microsoft Office Compatible alert source.

If you click on New Alert you should be able to browse to an alert source....if you happen to have one.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

Lightbulb Desktop Alerts?

terrace,

Maybe I misunderstood your first post. I don't understand how you may have configured your alerts for your contacts only - the default is for all mail items.

The info I gave you earlier is for customizing alerts (you'll need a 3rd party program for that).

Here is where you can make sure anytime anything comes into your inbox that it makes a sound:

In Outlook:
  1. Click Tools > Options to open the Options dialog box.
  2. From the Preferences tab of the Options dialog box, click email Options.
  3. From the email Options dialog box, click Advanced email Options.
  4. From the Advanced email Options dialog box, click Desktop Alert Settings.
I hope this is more helpful to you. Let me know!

Talking Desktop Alerts?

Thanks again. I haven`t attempted to configure it for just contacts and i don`t know about the default. Anyway i`ve reached the "desktop alert settings" page ImageShack - Image Hosting :: alerts.jpg now what do i do with that? Does that control the sound too?

My attachment shows that i`ve got everything ticked to get the sound and envelope, but the sound and envelope don`t happen all the time and in particular no sound for all incoming emails. Does the default need to be redone? ImageShack - Image Hosting :: soundenv.jpg

So, Basically it will not make a sound for every email. Does anyone know a work around to receive an audible alert for every single e-mail that may arrive in your box?

Default new email sound

No it doesn`t make a sound for every email in my Outlook 2007. It` the same in Outlook 2003. I`m attaching part of the article by Ken Slovak.
