![]() I'm in France & can receive but not send e-mails from Outlook for Mac 2011. I get an error message saying 'Outlook cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network'. France Telecom say it's nothing to do with anything they're doing. I don't have this problem in the UK with BT Home Hub. Any help on this welcomed. |

Hi,
Are you trying to use unsecured SMTP on Port 25. In many cases, changing to authenticated SMTP on Port 587 will do the trick. There other secure SMTP ports, but 587 is most common and the one that you should try first. |

Thanks for your reply Marshal. Yes, I have tried different ports including 587. Since I posted my query I've discovered this is not an uncommon problem in France, and I can work round it, but it's annoying and cumbersome.
