I write an email message, then click on Signatures, select the one I want, and the signature appears, but the message is erased. It worked properly last week, but all of a sudden it starts messing up.

Here are the t-shooting steps I have taken:
(1) close and restart Outlook 2010
(2) reboot computer
(3) Tried forwarding a message and my message was retained, but the message I was forwarding was erased.



Any idea how to correct the situation?

Just a thought: is it possible that you have a number of line returns above your signature and that the text is simply being pushed up and out of sight?

I don't have any line breaks or line returns above my signature, and the problem exists regardless of which of my signatures I select. If I select the signature first, before writing the message, I suppose that would work, but I'm not accustomed to doing it that way and I'm an old dog and you know how the saying goes about new tricks.

Are you still getting this problem or is the problem resolved?

It still happens, but now it only happens occasionally. I can copy the signature, hit Ctrl-Z and the message returns, then paste the signature back in, but that is kind of a pain. I have to hold my breath every time I insert a signature because I don't know if it will work properly or not. Any ideas?

Have the signature included before you typing by either selecting it or have it default there.

Create a new message

Click the signatures icon on the top, then click "signatures..."

On the right hand side of the box that pops up, you can choose for it to appear on "new messages" and/or "replies"

Do you have any images or HTML in your signature by chance?

Also, have you tried just writing up a new, basic signature to test if that has the same problem when adding it to your messages?

I am having the same problem as Lloyd. It is intermittent and I cannot figure out why it happens occasionally. Everything Lloyd said is exactly what it happening to me. Does anyone have any more advice about this? Thanks!
