There is an option that may help you in this situation. however, i only know its position in Outlook 2010 and not in 2003.
Go into your options and under Mail - Composing or Compose Messages, see if you have editor options. If so, under advanced - cut,copy, past - there is an option to keep or alter the content from other programs and to display them as just simple text.. Hope this helps.
