Got a pop up message today wanting me to renew Office 365 or the functionality would be decreased. I went to the MS Office help website listed from withing Office 2016, did a chat with an individual who completely understood the problem, he offered to uninstall and reinstall remotely.

With hesitation, I agreed and within one half hour, My office 2016 Pro + was installed and activated. I think I can now close this problem with a solved. Compare this snap with the first one in this thread. Tx for your help.
