Each application has its own shortcuts.
For Outlook, see: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...003084223.aspx
For Word, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290938
Where the different applications use different shortcut keys for the same things, you could re-assign the shortcut keys. You'd want to make sure they're not in use for something else you want a shortcut for, first, though. You can't, however, assign a function from one application to a shortcut key in another - at least, not without some serious macro coding.

Paul, thank you very much for your reply.

I have gone through the documentation regarding the (existing) shortcuts, but unfortunately it's the inserting of date and time that I'm specifically looking for. Ever since I found out (10 years ago) that the Notepad used the F5 key to do this, I've been trying to get this same shortcut functionality in all of the text editors that I use. Now when I see that there is a shortcut to insert these values in Excel, I hoped that there was a way to set the same key combination in Outlook and MSWord.

Norm.
