Hi Warren,
FWIW, Office 2011 is far more capable than Office 2008. For one thing, Office 2011 supports vba (macros), which Office 2008 doesn't. Macros can add enormous power to document management.

WOW! What an ordeal! I went through 3 pages I found on the web to uninstall Office 2008. It went 'fairly' well, although some of the items they told me to remove from various folders weren't there.
I reinstalled and, although Excel now runs, there were two issues: 1. The updater would not run. (I have since gone to Microsoft and run the updater from there, and it appears to be OK.) 2. When I open document A, it also opens document B. (That condition still is there, although it is liveable.) I appreciate your suggestion to bite the bullet and buy Office 2011. I really, really hope it doesn't give me the fits that this one has. I will probably do that this weekend. I have just about fried my little brain tonight. With your help, Paul, at least I am up and if not running, at least limping quickly. Thank you very much!! Warren |
