Default Help numbering each page of a merge not in header and footer

Hi All,

We use a program called CCH to make a mail merge, which then opens in word.

We want to be able to number each page, as each page is a fee for each client and they have their own fee number for our reference, in the past we have typed them in but as you can imagine it goes wrong!

can anyone help with either a merge field we use, make one or is there a formula, we want it to automatically number each one, like the fields do.
We found one which did work, but we still had to click on each page and the number would increase, this took ages!

Any help would be appreciated.

many thanks

R&M
