![]() Hello all, I have a little problem with the Word 2010 mail merge. I want to print each address twice (next to each other, one for the document itself, one for the label to put on the letters). The background image is just for checking the layout, it is deleted when printed (can the image automatically be set not to print?). The problem is that I can't find a way to enter each address twice using <<next record>><<address bloc>>. I can't get the counter to restart or I can't find a way to refer to record No. X. An other problem I find is the tedious way of making the layout. I'd rather use text boxes which I would use to indicate the exacte spot, but for some weird reason Word doesn't seem to able to do this. I have tried working in two columns, with a small column on the right for the second address (not so in the attached file btw). Although that works, it is quite an archaic way of doing it. So if there is a better way, I'd love to hear about it. Kind regards and thanks in advance for any help, bng Last edited by bng; 05-30-2013 at 04:57 AM. |

Hi bng,
Simply restructure your field layout as: «AddressBlock» «AddressBlock»«Next Record» «AddressBlock» «AddressBlock»«Next Record» «AddressBlock» «AddressBlock»«Next Record» «AddressBlock» «AddressBlock»«Next Record» «AddressBlock» Note that the «Next Record» field only occurs after every second «AddressBlock» field.

Hello macropod,
Thanks for your reply. I have thought of that option too, but when I do it like that the duplicate addresses are under each other, instead of next to each other, even when I work in columns or use a table. Is there a way to get around that? Thanks, bng |

In that case, create a two-column table where you want the output to go, structured as:
|«AddressBlock»|«AddressBlock»«Next Record»| |«AddressBlock»|«AddressBlock»«Next Record»| |«AddressBlock»|«AddressBlock»«Next Record»| |«AddressBlock»|«AddressBlock»«Next Record»| |«AddressBlock»|«AddressBlock»«Next Record»| where the | represent the cell boundaries.

The problem is that this results in the following output:
| A | B | | A | C | | B | C | While what I need is: | A | A | | B | B | | C | C | |

What kind of mailmerge are you doing? Using a label or directory merge, I get your second version. See attached (you will need to re-connect to your data source).

I am using label merge. I see the problem was that I wrote
|«AddressBlock»|«Next Record»«AddressBlock»| instead of |«AddressBlock»|«AddressBlock»«Next Record»| Problem solved. Thank you very much for your help! |
