Hi,
I am new to the forum. My Problem: I am using a Fujistu Note Book MH 330 with Windows 7 and Exel Home and Business 2010. Since about one month the "save" command does not work for newly created spreadsheets. The "Save as" command does not open the wiglet for existing and newly created sheets. I cannot save at all with the "Save as" command. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2010, which did not help I have tried starting Exel in safe mode to avoid disturbing add-ins. Same problem. Exel requests to make changes befor starting. Message: "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer " The program is on C:\program files\microsoft office\office\office14\exel.exe/dde If you click "no", Exel does not open. If you click "yes", Exel opens but changes the display (colour and resolution). When you close Exel again it pops back to the previous display. Opening an existing Exel file is possible and saving under the same name also. However changing the name with the "Save as" command does not work. The wiglet does not open any more and you cannot save under an other name. Message: "there was a problem sending this command to the program" If you click close it does not save the file. Opening a new fresh sheet is possible. I can work in it. It opens under Book1. However you cannot save it. Same problem as before mentioned. When I look for Book1 with the search in windows explorer I find it under recent. However in the Exel it is not shown under recent. When I try to open it from Windows Explorer. Exel opens only if I accept the change of display. The the same message comnes again and the file does not open. I changed the name of an existing Exel file in the Windows explorer and tried to open it, it will not open, same message "there was a problem sending this command to the program" What could be the problem and how can it be solved? regards Peter |

Hi Peter
You appear to have tried all the obvious things. It sounds like it is either an OS issue or a corrupt version of MS Office to me. What I suggest you need to do is backup all of your data to an external drive for safety. Then reset your machine back to factory settings. Then re-load MS Office (nothing else). Test Excel to see if you have the same issues. If you do it may be that you have a corrupt version of Office. If so you could try downloading a trial version of Office and test that. If that works you should be able to use your original Licence Number to activate the trial version. Hope this helps. Good luck. Tony |

Thank you for your notice. I found something else which I do not understand. Checking the program files under "C/programms/Microsoft office/Office 14" I find the Exel programm with a last modification dated 26. June 2013. I believe since then the problem started.
My questions: What happened in June? Was this an automatic update from Microsoft which created the problem? Why do I find the folder /Office 14? What does the number 14 mean? Thanks for your help. Peter |

Hi Peter
The Office 14 folder is the internal name for Office 2010. You could try uninstalling any MS Office updates since 26 June from the control panel, programs and features folder. Tony |
