Default Style Replaced When Deleting a Line

Suppose I have two lines in a word document:
  • 1st one has a Normal style applied to it.
  • 2nd one has a Heading 1 style applied to it.
When I delete line 1, the contents of line 2 are moved up, and the style gets replaced from Heading 1 to Normal.

I don't want this to happen. When I delete a line, I want the contents moved up and NO style changes.

How can I stop Word (2007) from doing this?
