In Word 2010, I'm setting keyboard shortcuts from the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box. I'm opting to save them in Normal. After confirming and closing the dialogs, the changes take effect, but only until I close Word. When I reopen Word, the changes have vanished.
In the Templates and Add-ins dialog, "Normal" is shown in the Document template field and "Automatically update document styles" is disabled (enabling this makes no difference). Can anyone advise how to make keyboard shortcuts permanent? Thanks, |

I suspect that somehow you have more than one Normal template; you open with one but are saving to another, so the changes don't show up when you open the document again.
try clicking on your file tab and selecting New, then My Templates. See if there is more than one template called normal there. (Normal.dotm is the default for Word 2010.) If so, open both and see which, of either, has the shortcuts. If one does, then it can become your new template; you can rename the other to something like NormalOld, if you're unsure about deleting it. If neither does, either you have saved a Normal template to another folder somewhere, or I think you're making an error in your shortcut saving procedure. Hope this helps. Best, Ulodesk |

My Templates reveals just one template called 'Blank Document'.
I'm pretty sure I am following the correct procedures in creating the keyboard shortcuts properly. However, I have 'solved' the problem by opening Normal (by selecting Templates and then Normal in the Open dialog), implementing the shortcuts, saving Normal, closing Word and reopening it . . . Now, when I open any other Word document, the shortcuts persist. But I have absolutely no idea why Word previously refused to save them to the Normal template. |
