Default Independent Left-Right Column Layout? - 2007

I'm creating a landscape document that I'll need to fold like a book once printed.

I've set the "Page Layout" columns to two, but how can I make these two columns independent from each other?

When setting the columns to two, I have to hit enter until the cursor jumps to the right column. Also, when deleting a line or hitting enter on the left-side column, it effects the right-side by shifting things around.

Is there a way to make them separate from each other?

Perfect, that did it, thanks.

I can't get the left and right columns aligned however. The right side, is just a tad bit lower than the left site. The line spacing is the same on both columns.

Any ideas?

Is the font formatted differently in the other column? If so, check out the spacing before and after in that paragraph. If not upload your document and I'll have a look

It turns out that didn't fix it. When I hit enter on the left-side column, it still pushes the right side column down. Even after I choose column break.

Is there a way to make them completely independent from each other?

Attached is my document.

I would like both columns independent from each other, as mentioned before, and all text on the same line in both columns.

Thanks for checking it out.

Default Revised Document - Alignment Issues

Please find attached revised document

You may wish to show paragraph marks and other hidden formatting symbols to review the changes I have made between your document and the revised one.

This can be found on Home Tab|Paragraph Group - the icon looks like a backwards P.

The paragaph under both of the Title were formatted with a spacing of 10pt after, however one was multiple 1.15 and the other was single - I have changed them both to single.

You have your ........ paragraphs as centred with the ...... typed in. I have removed your typed .... and replace them with a tab, right aligned with a ..... leader and have left aligned them.

You will find the dialog box for Tabs under Home Tab|Paragraph Group, click and the grey arrow in the bottom right hand corner of this group, which will bring up the dialog box, Tabs button can be found left bottom corner.

However, on the ruler you will find in the top most left hand side a small box, click this box changes the tab type and the tabs can also be set on the margin.

At the end of the first column I have inserted a column break after the paragraph following the heading Announcements. This can be found on the Page Layout Tab|Page Setup Group|Breaks. I have also removed unnecessary blank paragraphs.

You may wish to revise your margins as they are very close to the edge, unless your printer permits printing that close. If you have to change your margins, you will also have to adjust the tabs for your paragraphs with ...... leaders.

On of my favourite Icons in the MS Office Suite is the format painter, which once you have adjusted one paragraph you can use this to format the other paragraphs, instead of repeating the actions to make them indentical. This Icon can be found on Home Tab|Clipboard Group - it looks like a paint brush.

Wow, thanks! This is perfect.

Is it possible to move the titles up? Sometimes I need the space, so I push everything up.

You could put them in the header and set two tabs to centre alignment, but as previously mentioned, you need to be aware of your printer capabilities.

Can you explain a bit more? I'm not understanding "set two tabs". When I read tabs, I think of the tab key on my keyboard.

Default Revised with "Title" in the header

I have revised the document and included "Title" text in the header.

This will look greyed out, so you just need to double click in this area (in page layout view) to access and amend this.

I have set tabs, which are centred for both "Title" headings, just select each one to change the text.

However, if you choose to add addition pages and you wish them to be different from these you will have to insert section breaks and choose to unlink the headers from the previous header. Come back if that is your intention.
