Is there a way of preempting the type of font that gets pasted in word? What I mean is: suppose I was copying and pasting some text from a website into Word. I want to text to be pasted in Verdana and in size 12. On the website, it is Times New Roman and size 14. Can I set some kind of parameter so that it automatically gets converted to verdana and size 12 when pasted?



I have Word 2003.

After you paste, look for a smart tag, it will look like a tiny clipboard. Point to it and it will display a drop-down. Use the drop-down and choose either Match destination formatting, or Keep text only.

Do you know if there's a way to do this when inserting captions and footnotes?

Modify the Caption and Footnote styles, respectively, so that they match the format you want.

I managed to create a few styles in the formatting and styles pane, and I could apply these to captions and footnotes, but I'm not finding anything addressing captions and footnotes directly (i.e. so that it would automatically apply the style while creating the caption/footnote).

You can modify the styles that Word automatically applies to captions and footnotes. In the Styles and Formatting pane, right-click the Caption style and click Modify. Choose the font and other settings that you want. If you want to transfer the settings to your template, use the "Add to template" option before clicking OK in the Modify Style dialog. Repeat this for the Footnote Text style.

Hi, I'm having the same problem when I try to copy and paste a simple text from a pure plain text webpage with no special styles or characters or something like that (http://www.articlewritingtools.com/cpn.php) - when I do that it always changes to Times New Roman at size of 12pt...I tried all the above tips and it just won't work. Is there something wrong with my Office 2007 installation or it happens to anyone else with WORD 2007...?
