The options for restricting formatting are described, rather briefly, in this article:
Restrict or permit formatting changes http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...712.aspx?CTT=1 This is not at all completely safe, as it can be circumvented, but it makes it a bit harder to introduce undesired formatting in a document.
