I am happy to report that it is working flawlessly. No need for configuring numbering via styles now!

In fact, it is no longer possible to modify outline (multilevel) numbering via styles.

However, when editing a multilevel list, you should always start with the insertion point in the first level 1 paragraph of the list (meaning the first Heading 1 paragraph of the document if you are dealing with heading numbering).
