This is not caused by Word or Outlook, your Windows Explorer should be very low too. Open 'My Computer', disconnect the drivers which are not available, such as network drives.

Thanks Kevin. That took care of the issue. So simple. I had put up with that for many months.

I do have a question. Why does Word [and other MS products] exhibit this behavior while other applications [i.e. Wordperfect] does not?
