Greek letter phi not included in MS 2010

Hi, I'm working on a phD and have quite a lot of figures, eqs., etc that use the lower case greek letter phi (which i will refer to as phiA), with a full slash through the circle, not the other which has a circle turning into the bottom of the slash (phiB), without a slash above the circle. I had this option in previous versions of word where I was able to insert symbol, find the lower case phiA, and insert it, which I don't see in my new MS2010. Incidentally, when I load a document built in MS 2007/2003, etc, all of my lower case phis are displayed as a small black rectangle, suggesting that the character does not exist in my font set. I can still insert the phiB using insert symbol, but that would mean that I would have to go back and redesign all of my charts to display the other phi, which would be a real pain. Is there a way to add the other lowercase phi from my old symbol set into the new MSwords symbol set so that I may use it in the future?
