![]() why the "section break-next page" is switched to "section break-continuous"? please, see the attached images that show my question why when deleting the "section break-continuous" switches the former "section break-next page" to "section break-continuous"? |

It's really dumb, but you have to insert a "Break - Next Page" after the "Break - Continuous" that you want to delete. Then, delete the "Break - Continuous" and it will turn into a "Break - Next Page"... now delete it too! Your original "Break - Next Page" should have stayed the same.
You have to do it in exactly this order and I never understood why, but I've run into the same problem before and remember the solution! Let me know if that works. |

I have no idea!
It probably has to do with the fact that deleting a Section Break makes the preceding section take on the formatting of the subsequent section (which I find counter-intuitive) and the type of break is considered a format property of the section. |

Thanks aero_b and Jamal.
I had exactly the opposite problem: I wanted to get rid of a page break but retain a section break. The same technique worked to solve it. MS must be aware of this bizarre functionality. Why on earth don't they fix it? ![]() |

To learn about section breaks in Word, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting...thSections.htm.
