Problems with inserting pic into document

Hi all, thanks in advance. I have a jpg that I insert into a document. When i insert the pic as saved it shows up fine and prints fine. When i edit the pic in word to put a oval around in and change the outline color, the print preview looks fine, but the text is cut off 3/4 of the way across the page, when i take out the formatting of the pic it prints fine again. any suggestions.
