Hi Meenie,
OK, what you're described is the result of Word using characters that are not supported by the email program concerned (or at least not as its currently configured). Word is not inserting the codes & symbols you're referring to. Rather, your email software is converting characters it can't handle properly. Most likely, the problem characters are Unicode characters and your email software can only handle ASCII characters.
