Thanks very much. I had my caption style set to 'Right justify' by a slip of the mouse, and it was like I was not able to click into the caption text box at all. Thanks to this forum I realised why.

I see that one can also produce the same result (the apparent inability to type into the text box) by for example increasing the size of the font to say 24.

I see no reason why this text input box should reflect the paragraph and font settings at all, bearing in mind it can not display them.
