The text in the two columns are not in the same level!!!! why?

I think you're pixel-peeping! Anything that can't be resolved with 0.5pt (just over 1/6mm) accuracy wouldn't be visible on the printed page.

Yes Macropod, You are right! By way of excuse, Mice are small and very short sighted, 1/6mm is an awfully long way.

Back to Word, I'm not sure why simple things sometimes have no answer or at least ave complicated one!

For the time being, as MSc student, I'm a heavy user for MS-Word and struggling from time to time in solving problems! i do really appreciated the efforts of PAUL who is all the time online to offer advices...

You can make line spacing in 2 column text at the same level, by following these steps:
1. select the text.
2. open the paragraph dialog box.
3. In the spacing section, make spacing after paragraph 12 pt, and line spacing "Exactly" 12 pt.
4. If you are using Heading Style, make spacing after heading 12 pt.

This work for all types of documents. However, if you use spacing higher than 12 pt you may need to do manual adjustment.
