Hello,
I have been having an issue with MS Word formatting everything I paste from a web site. It is pasting everything in the right font, yet its making everything a small caps format!!
I have to fix it to the normal font everytime. How I can I stop Word from formating everything I paste into the document in small caps like that? If I try to type anything afterward everything continues in small caps format!!



I have tried going to "Clear Formating" and it goes right back to making everything small caps again when I paste something else!! This is super annoying. Did I click something that says always make everything I paste into a small capitals format? How can I undo this?
This is ridiculous.

Does the web site use small caps for the copied range? If so, and you're pasting in a range to which a Style definition has been applied, it may be that Word is picking up that definition. In that case, the Style name on the Formatting menu bar should show that the name has been changed. You may need to change it back to your preferred Style name or, when pasting, paste as unformatted text.

Thank you Paul for your reply. This habit of Word has been doing this to ever web page I have used for almost 4 weeks now. I put everything back on New times Roman and the heading style back to "Normal" it goes right back to pasteing everythung in caps again and somtimes i noticed without pasting anything it just starts me off writing in that style when it wasnt asked for.
I never known word to do this and its like its got freaky zombie mind of its own latley!

That suggests you've changed a Style definition. With an offending paragraph, go to Format|Style. What Style name do you see highlighted? If you continue from there to Modify|Format|Font, you should be able to uncheck the 'small caps' option (assuming it is checked).

After fixing the formatting, you can go to Format|Style|Organizer and copy the updated Style to your 'Normal' template.

Ok thank you. I have done that and sometimes it still slips back into wanting to go into small caps again. It has helped cut down some of the wasted time fiddleing with it by hand.

One further step with the affected Style, then, is to go to Format|Style|Modify and make sure 'Automatically Update' is not checked.
