I'm creating a leaflet, A4, with two columns of text, interspersed with (Grouped) images and Captions

Expecting the Figure # to run consequetively down one column, then into the second column, has me rather disappointed as it numbers the captions with 'Figure 1' in first column, then 'Figure 2' in the second column, presumably because it's higher on the page than 'Figure 3' etc.

So, I've double-clicked in the 'Fig' box and manually changed the number to what I want. However, the Table of Figures will only pick up 'figure 1' which is the only caption box I didn't change.

Is there a way around this, please?

If you give the page concerned a two-column page layout and use a Table of Contents field with the \c switch, you should get the results you desire.

I'm not sure what you mean by the \c switch, I'm afraid. Would you be able to explain, please?

Clarification: The Table of Figures uses the Table of Contents field.

Charles, your link is amazing and, obviously, leads to other links. So, I've had a good read and will be trying the methods as listed in the articles, along with the associated articles.


Needless to say, this will take me a little while but I'll post back once I've had the time to work through it all.


It seems one has to do things in a very specific order, in order to achieve what one's hoping for.

I must have done something 'not in the correct order' for it not to have worked as I would have expected.
