Why do I get this 'Autosave Has Been Turned Off' warning?

There is an ongoing issue when the warning banner is difficult or even impossible to get rid of, if that is your main concern. This has been reported to Microsoft (which is documented in the Microsoft Q&A forum). No fix has been provided yet, but hopefully it won't be long.

For whatever reason, the warning banner has now stopped appearing on my Word 2019 documents. Not by anything that I did (that I am aware of). Could have been fixed on one of their recent (silent) updates. Not complaining, of course.
