Adding Characters to Page Number

Hi Dave,

You can do whatever you like with the way the page numbers appear in the footer (even using field maths to display a different number), but unless you conform to Word's way of doing things, you'll only get the raw page number in the footer.

SO how would you create a variation of - 1 - so as to look like * 1 *, for example?

AFAIK, you can't - you can only use one of the built-in formats. You could, of course insert the asterisks before & after the page # in the footer (or add a numeric picture switch coded as \# '*'0'*' to the field), but they won't be picked up by the TOC.
