What do you think, is there an add-on that can solve this problem?
That you have never installed an add-in does not mean that you do not have any. Many programs install them to help you use their program with Word without even telling you about it.
To be sure this is a problem with your Word program, itself, try starting in safe mode.
Then use File Open to open your file with the links and try using one.

I have done it.

I opened a Word in safe mode and created there a link to pdf1 file and it shows the same warning that there is no program assigned.

Then I created the link in normal mode and opened it in safe mode and it could not open it either. It shows the same warning.

Does the fact that the same thing happened in safe mode mean that the problem is not due to an add-on?
