![]() I have a footnote in a paper that I am editing for someone else. I have this footnote. [1] Paul Boudreau, “The Five CS’ of Confession,”16. Underneath it is 16 carriage return No matter what I've tried, I can't get the cursor to go to the errant 16. Nor can I delete the 16 in the footnote. I've tried adjusting space between lines but it does not help. I've tried deleting the end of the footnote to make the errant 16 go up to the line above it. That doesn't work either. How do I get rid of the extra "16"? Thanks. Kne |

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

It would be easier to diagnose the issue if you attached a doc but I think you are looking at the placeholder paragraphs that indicate footnote markers are in the document and you haven't populated the footnotes themselves.
Look at the body of the document to see if there is more than one footnote indicator. If you doubleclick the number down in the footnote area, your cursor should jump into the body of the document to where that footnote reference is sitting. If you delete that footnote reference, the locked paragraph in the footnote area will be removed.
