I am presentlly using a Dell comuter from 2016. I own Office 2016. I just bought a new Dell. My notes say I can uninstall from the old and reinstall on the new and I have the key. I use Word extensively, none of the others. I am the only user. Will spending $149 for the current version of Office get me an upgraded, enhanced version of Word?
Thanks in advance, |

Yes, you can reinstall your Office 2016 on the new PC. Technically, there is no need to uninstall the existing copy; it makes no difference to the reinstallation process.

I do not know that Office 2024 is substantially better than Office 2016. I am using 365 and do not necessarily like the "improvements."
Assuming that you registered your 2016 with your office account, log in on your new computer, go to the Services & Subscriptions tab and scroll to the bottom of the page where Office 2016 should be in your purchases. Click on it to get a link to download. You may have to deactivate the installation on the old computer. That is also done on that account page. |
