Word 2016. I'm trying to create shortcut keys for a macro. However I can't type in the Customize dialog box. The curser is blinking in the box but I can't type in it, How can I fix this?

Some keys cannot be customized.
What key combination are you trying to use?
Assigning Keyboard Shortcuts in Microsoft Word 2007-2024 (365)

P.S. You should change your profile from Word 2007 to get the best answers.

Key combination is not the issue: I can't type in the entry box. Pressing keyboard Ctrl. alt. etc. does not enter either.

The result of pressing keys will show after you completed your key sequence. For example, if you press Ctrl+Shift+S, when you release the keys, you will see "Ctrl+Shift+S" in the "Press new shortcut key" box (and the dialog box indicates that those keys are assigned to StyleApplyPane).

I don't get it. How do you enter Ctrl+Alt+B? How do you enter the + sign?

You don’t enter the + sign.

Press and hold Ctrl then press and hold Alt then press B. Release all 3 keys together.

Press the keys exactly the same way as you would when you make use of a shortcut in Word. The plus signs are not part of the actual shortcut.

For example, Ctrl+Shift+S means to press and hold Ctrl, press and hold Shift, press S and finally release all the three keys.
