Question How do delete this auto-created line

If you type in ~~~ and hit enter, then Word will assume you want to extend it all the way across the row, and does it for you.
You leave it there, save, exit.

Some time later you open the file and want to change it. But I see no way to select the row of ~~~ that goes all the way across.

How do I delete it?

Simply select the paragraph and choose Paragraph>Borders>No Border from the Ribbon's Home tab.

It is not a border (that I know of). It is under the last line of text on the page.

I can click on it with my mouse, but it is not selected, nor is there any indication that it is selected. So "Paragraph" does not appear in the ribbon under Home.

I have Word in Microsoft 365 subscription on my 2025 Mac Mini M4.

It's a border. I'm not familiar with the Mac Ribbon layout, so you'll need to find wherever the Mac keeps those paragraph formatting/border tools.

Default more details

For others who are reading this, I cannot select the line. It is a horizontal line.

It is not a border around an image, nor a border around a box, nor around a cell. It is not part of a box I created.
Clicking on the line does not cause the ribbon to update to show editing functions. The Microsoft 365 subscription ribbon functions on the Mac just like the ribbon on a PC. (I've used both.)

When I select the paragraph above the line, then Paragraph editing features become available. Selecting None for border does not remove the line.

In which case, without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Default The page attached

You'll see the (squggzly) line I'm talking about in the upper right corner that was formed with ~~~.

It's a paragraph border.

On WinWord, you'd select the cell, then choose Borders>Borders & Shading>Apply to:Paragraph>None.

PS: You didn't say anything before about it being applied to the end-of-cell marker of a table cell.

Thank you so much! That pesky line is gone.

I had no idea the cell was related to the line (border). I've never seen that sequence of keystrokes to that location before, so I would never have figured it out. I came to the right place!
